The 2008 Ford Fusion comes with a roomy interior, athletic handling and all-wheel drive configuration.

Engine and Performance

The 2008 Fusion S, SE and SEL models come with a standard five-speed manual transmission and a fuel efficient; 160-horsepower Duratec four-cylinder engine that achieves 29 mpg on the highway and a range of 467 miles on a full tank of gas. The five-speed automatic is optional. The 221-horsepower Duratec V-6 engine works in tune with a first-in-class six-speed automatic - optional on SE and SEL models.

Body and styling

The 2008 Ford Fusion comes in three trim levels: S, SE and SEL. The S features 16-inch steel wheels, air conditioning, a CD/MP3 player with auxiliary input jack for MP3 players, cruise control, full power accessories, keyless entry and a 60/40-split-folding rear seat. The SE has alloy wheels, fog lights, a six-way power driver seat, upgraded six-speaker stereo with CD changer, audio controls on the steering wheel, faux carbon-fiber trim and a fold-down front-passenger seat. The Fusion SEL comes with 17-inch wheels, keyless-entry keypad, automatic headlights, automatic climate control, heated outside mirrors (with puddle lamps), an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a compass and unique interior accents.

The newly available features include rear obstacle detection and Microsoft Sync, a voice-activated system for controlling cell phones and MP3 players.

A sport appearance package which includes a black chrome grille, 18-inch alloy wheels, sport-tuned suspension, rear spoiler, chrome exhaust tips and red cabin accents (including leather seat inserts and stitching on the seats, console and steering wheel) is also available.

Safety features

The 2008 Ford Fusion comes with a number of safety features including side curtain air bags in both rows, seat-mounted side-impact air bags for the front seats, frontal air bags, Latch child-seat anchors, and rear-door child safety locks.

It is fully armed with the latest technology to resist, absorb and divert the force of an impact. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave Fusion the highest protection ratings in frontal offset and side-impact crash testing.
