The 2008 Ford Taurus X is the new name for Ford's Freestyle crossover. Along with the name change, this sport utility vehicle has been freshened - Taurus X is essentially a wagon version of the Ford Taurus (formerly Five Hundred) sedan.
The chrome-bar grille and step-up headlamps bring the Taurus X in line with Ford's new signature face. Also new are front and rear fascias, a restyled hood and fenders, improved taillamps and twin chrome-tipped exhausts. The Eddie Bauer model also wears two-tone paint and 18-inch, five-spoke aluminum wheels.
This new Taurus X's standard content is impressive: AdvanceTrac® stability control, four-wheel anti-lock brakes (ABS), six-way power driver's seat with manual lumbar support, reclining 40/40-split second-row bucket seats, air conditioning, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, power windows and power locks and mirrors, remote keyless entry, fog lamps, roof rack, audio input jack, and no fewer than four 12-volt outlets.
A navigation system and DVD entertainment are optional. Also available is Ford's Sync, a voice-activated interface for cell phones and digital music players.
