Fuel Efficiency Helps Raise Ford Sales 22 percent

Ford Motor has set plenty of sales records during January of 2013. In the U.S., sales showed a total increase of 22%, the best the automaker has seen since 2006, before the economy went into crisis. Sedans saw a 34% sales increase, while utility vehicles rose 23%. Pickup trucks sales have also increased, as the Ford F-150 is the best truck currently on the U.S. market.

“Ford is off to a strong start this year, with Fusion and Escape delivering January sales records and F-Series seeing a particularly strong reception this early in the year,” Ken Czubay, Ford vice president of U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service, told media. “Our investment in fuel-efficient new vehicles, including EcoBoost engines and hybrid technology, continues to pay off.”

The new Ford Fusion in Seattle saw its best January sales ever, breaking a new record for the model, with a 65% rise from last January. The Ford Escape also saw its best January ever, with a 16% increase over last year.
